SYNOPSIS

It was only supposed to be one night. He said he was just passing through. And I get lonely up here at the waystation. The life of an innkeeper is not that glamorous, you know.  And he was a guardsman, protector of the Queen, and lithe and handsome, and he wanted me. What’s the harm in one night of passion? But after he left, I couldn’t stop thinking about him. And then one day, he returned. And returned to my bed. But with him, he brought disturbing news of war and mysterious threats to the kingdom.

WHY I LOVED NARRATING THIS AUDIOBOOK

While this is fantasy, the emotions of the main character, the innkeeper are very real. The passion, the longing, the anxiety and frustration, the insecurity are all rooted very much in every world. Ordinary people in an extraordinary world.  The writing is so grounded and genuine, with some moments of profound depth, humor and happiness.
