And then one day, he returned. And returned to my bed. But with him, he brought disturbing news of war and mysterious threats to the kingdom.

While this is fantasy, the emotions of the main character, the innkeeper are very real. The passion, the longing, the anxiety and frustration, the insecurity are all rooted very much in every world. Ordinary people in an extraordinary world. The writing is so grounded and genuine, with some moments of profound depth, humor and happiness.
